Asthma, Bronchitis & Reflexology |

Did you know regular reflexology sessions can help relieve asthma sufferers' symptoms? Yes, the life affirming qualities of reflexology are very good for asthma sufferers. How does Reflexology help?Reflexology helps activate the body?s own healing abilities to strengthen and normalize the circulatory , respiratory and endocrine system. In this way, it can help to strengthen lung and bronchial tissue. As it removes stress blocks reflexology also helps your entire body to function better and it will enable your body to make more effective use of medications, which can lead to reduction in dosages needed. The key to success is having regular reflexology sessions. Reflexology treatments have been shown to lessen the severity and frequency of asthma attacks. You can also apply reflexology techniques to yourself several times throughout the day. Children with AsthmaChildren with asthma and bronchitis benefit greatly from reflexology treatments, the key here is shorter sessions, but more often. It is beneficial for the parents to learn how to work the reflex areas on the child?s feet so they can do this on a daily basis. Giving reflexology to your child?s or your grandchild?s feet also creates a wonderful nurturing bond between you both. At the very least, reflexology makes one feel more comfortable in one?s own body, and this is a great benefit for most sufferers of asthma or other respiratory difficulties. 1FDZ, Danish Reflexologists Association Research Committee, 1988 © Liz Oertel, LLC 2003 Back to top

Essential Oils for Summertime |
Here are some essential oils and their practical uses during summertime: Rosalina - a milder alternative to Tea Tree oilTea tree oil (Melaleuca alternifolia)a very powerful oil from Australia is known to have anti-septic and anti-fungal qualities. In it's pure form it is has a very strong scent. There is now an alternative with a milder, more pleasant scent. Rosalina (Melaleuca ericifolia), also from Australia, has the same cleansing qualities of tea tree, but with a smoother, milder and more pleasant scent. One of my favorite uses of rosalina oil is to put a several drops on the air intake filter of my air conditioner and Voila! No more musty smell when you turn it on! And it cleans all the air in the room leaving a really nice scent! Another home use of tea tree as well as rosalina oil is to put a few drops in your bucket of water while cleaning the bathroom, (or kitchen, or basement), wipe down the walls with it and their anti-septic and anti-fungal qualities effectively prevent mold and mildew from forming. We have rosalina oil available in 5 ml. bottles for $9.00 and 10 ml. bottles for $16.00. Remember, a little goes a long way. "Scandinavian Winter" Diffuser BlendThis wonderfully cooling blend of spruce and cedar wood feels like it lowers your temperature as soon as you inhale it. It is a very, cooling blend and has also been discovered to cut the smell of skunks! No kidding. A customer had her house sprayed by a skunk and after all else failed, she mixed drops of scandinavian winter in water and sprayed and washed the rooms with this mixture. After that, all was well. Scandinavian winter is also good to drop into water you use for cleaning, it also has a cleansing effect and a nice, cool scent that makes everything feel fresh. We have scandinavian winter in 15 ml. bottles for $18.00. Caring for your oils during the summer. If your home tends to be very warm, this is not good for your essential oils. Keep them in a cool place, and out of direct sunlight. Hight heat and direct sunlight cause oils to lose their potency. All essential oils can be stored in the refrigerator (not the freezer!) if need be, to extend the life of the oils. Citrus oils in particular, are better kept in the fridge. Take care of your oils, and remember, a little goes a long way! |
